ORDER

The petitioner joined police department way back in the year 1969. He became Head Constable in the year 1986. He became Sub Inspector of Police on 25.05.2001. He retired from service in the year 2007. Eight years after his retirement, he submitted a representation on 15.06.2015 to the third respondent, stating that promotion was given to him belatedly. writ petitioner was rejected by the third respondent on 11.07.2015. The writ petitioner again gave one more representation that was also rejected by the fourth respondent on 30.01.2016. Challenging the same, the present writ petition came to be filed. 2.There has been a gross delay on the part of the petitioner. In matters relating to grant of promotion and refixation of seniority, the aggrieved individual should knock the door of this Court at the earliest possible opportunity. Otherwise it will lead to unsettling of settled matters. Since, the writ petitioner has approached this Court belatedly, on the ground of laches, relief has to be denied. Accordingly, the writ petition stands dismissed. No costs.
