ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed by the petitioner to direct the learned Additional District Judge, Ramanathapuram to expedite the trial and dispose the case in S.C.No.106 of 2022 on the file of the Additional District Judge, Ramanathapuram within a time frame stipulated by this Court.

2. The learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the case is pending for a long time without conducting trial, therefore prays to direct the Trial Court to dispose the case within specific time period.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent would submit that the case was pending as the A-1 was absconding and thereafter, the case against the first accused was split up and the case is posted for examination of witnesses in respect of other accused. Therefore, they will cooperate to complete the trial as early as possible and they also assured to produce the witnesses without any delay.

4. This Court perused the records and seen that the date of occurrence is 09.09.2021 and the case is pending for around 4 years. Therefore, it is appropriate to direct the Trial Court to complete the trial within the stipulated time. Accordingly, the Trial Court is directed to complete the trial as early as possible, preferably, within six (6) months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and the respondent police is also directed to produce the witnesses as scheduled by the Trial Court without any delay.

5. With the above said observations and directions, this Criminal Original Petition stands allowed.
