O R D E R
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent to issue patta to the petitioners in respect of the property situated in S.No.475/2A, Rameswaram Group, Ramanathapuram Taluk, Ramanathapuram District, on the basis of the Sale Deed in Document No.248/2008 on the file of the Rameswaram SubRegistrar Office, by considering the petitioners' online Petition No. 2025/0103/27/234378 dated 19.12.2025 and their representation dated 15.12.2025, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
2. With the consent of the parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3. The grievance of the petitioners is that the first petitioner, along with her husband, late Bala Subramanian, purchased the subject property Page No. 2 of 6
by a registered Sale Deed in Document No.248/2008. After the demise of the said Bala Subramanian, the second petitioner and the other legal heirs, including the first petitioner, became the rightful owners of the property. The petitioners made an online application dated 19.12.2025 before the first respondent seeking transfer of patta in the names of the legal heirs and the first petitioner. The petitioners had already submitted a representation dated 15.12.2025. However, no action has been taken so far. Therefore, the petitioners have been constrained to file the present Writ Petition.
4. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that there is a proposal for acquisition of the land in question by the Government and that a civil suit is also pending.

In view of the above, this Court is of the opinion that once an application or representation has been made seeking issuance or transfer of patta, it is for the authority concerned to consider the same and dispose of it on merits and in accordance with law and the same cannot be kept pending without consideration. In the present case, both the online Page No. 3 of 6
application and the representation are pending. Therefore, the first respondent is directed to consider the same and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of sixteen (16) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Such orders shall be passed after conducting an enquiry and after considering all the facts. The respondents shall provide a reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioners and any other interested parties who may be affected by such decision before passing orders.
6. With the above observations, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
