O R D E R
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 10.01.2026, in the light of Resolution No. 253/2023 dated 29.09.2023 of the Nerkuppai Town Panchayat and issue a patta.
2. With the consent of the parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3. The grievance of the petitioner is that he is aged about 81 years. His request for grant of a free house site patta was considered. However, a patta was issued in Survey No.680/46,which is situated on the outskirts of the village. The petitioner now seeks grant of patta within the village in Survey No.548/11.

4. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that the land in Survey No. 548/11 is classified as Government poramboke cart track in the revenue records; that the petitioner has encroached upon the same; and that since a free house site patta could not be granted to the petitioner in the said survey number, a patta was granted in an alternative available location.
5. The patta in question is a free house site patta issued after considering the eligibility of the petitioner. The request of the petitioner for grant of a free house site patta in a particular survey number cannot be accepted, as the allotment of such patta cannot be made according to the convenience or preference of the petitioner merely on the ground that the allotted land is situated on the outskirts of the village. Therefore, the present Writ Petition is devoid of merits.
6. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is dismissed. No costs. [K.SURENDER, J.] 11.02.2026 JEN Index : Yes / No Page No. 3 of 5
