Respondents in all cases Common Prayer : Writ Petitions are filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus to direct the first respondent i.e., the Principal Secretary to Government, Revenue Department, Chennai and the District Collector, Ramanathapuram to send revised pension proposals to the Accountant General, Chennai calculating half of the services put in by the petitioners as Karnam and as Headman respectively within a specified time frame.

They were originally appointed as Karnam and Headman respectively. The said posts were abolished by the Government. The petitioners retired from service. over for more than 30 years. The petitioner's case is that the services rendered by them even prior to 1995 ought to be taken into account for pensionary purposes.
2.This Court had held in more than one case that 50% of the services put in by a person who was working even prior to 1995 shall be taken into account for pensionary purpose. Therefore, the first respondent is directed to consider the case of the petitioners on merits and in accordance with law and pass orders within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 3.This writ petitions are disposed of accordingly.
