This writ petition has been filed seeking permission to conduct the Cycle Race and other sports events for children from 21.01.2018 to 23.01.2018 as the part of the Pongal Celebration in Vadakku Thiraniyampatti Village, Vellore Post, Musiri Taluk, Trichy District.

2.Heard Mr.R.Subramanian, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.N.Shanmugaselvam, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is one of the Villagers of the Vadakku Thiraniyampatti Village. Every year, the villagers used to conduct the Pongal festival by conducting Cycle Race and other sports events for chidlren and this year also, they have decided to conduct the said Cycle Race and other sports events for children from 21.01.2018 and 23.01.2018 as part of the pongal festival. Hence, he seeks police protection for the same.

4.Considering the said submissions, the third respondent/Inspector of Police, Musiri Police Station, Musiri, Trichy District is directed to consider the representation given by the petitioner and pass appropriate orders on or before 17.01.2018.

5. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
