Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court To issue a Writ of Mandamus or any other writ, order or direction in the nature of writ, directing to the respondents 1 to 3 to give adequate police protection to life and limb of the petitioners and directing the 4th respondent not to harass the petitioners in any manner. ORDER:- This Petition coming on for hearing on this day and upon perusing the petition and the affidavit filed in support thereof and upon hearing the arguments of Mr.K.Chellapandian, Senior Counsel, for Mr.M.Rajarajan, Advocate for the Petitioner and of Mr.R.M.Anbunithi, Additional Public Prosecutor, on behalf of the Respondents, this court made the following order; This writ petition has been listed under the caption "for clarification".

2.When the matter was taken up for hearing, Mr.K.Chellapandian, learned Senior Counsel appearing for the petitioners submitted that the respondents 2 and 3 provided adequate police protection to the petitioners while taking their respective sworn statement as Councilor. After taking their respective sworn statement, the petitioners were not allowed to go from Annavasal Town Panchayat's Office.
3.In view of the said submission, the second and third respondents are directed to provide adequate police protection to the petitioners for their life and limb till the election for the post of Chairman and Voice Chairman of Annavasal Town Panchayat. It is also made it clear that the second respondent is directed to monitor the election process for the post of Chairman and Vice Chairman of Annavasal Town Panchayat and ensure that the petitioners are freely vote on their own for the said posts. 4.The Registry is directed to issue a fresh order copy by incorporating the aforesaid paragraphs in the earlier order dated 28.02.2022.
