PRAYER : Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 and 2 to grant approval to the selection of the administrative committee consisting of 14 persons as Mutawalli on 20.12.2024 by considering the application dated 17.01.2025 preferred by the Petitioner within the period that may be stipulated by this Court. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned counsel appearing for the respondents.

The short grievance of the petitioner in this Writ Petition is that he was elected as President of Masjid Taqwa @ Merku Theru Jamath, Nambuthalai, Thiruvadanai Taluk, Ramanathapuram District along with the other Administrative Committee members on 20.12.2024 and accordingly, submitted all the particulars together with application on 17.01.2025 before the
respondents 1 and 2 for approval of the same. The said application is stated to be still pending for consideration. Hence, the petitioner approached this Court by filing the present Writ Petition.
3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the period of the previous committee expired on 30.05.2024 and since then, there is no proper administration of the waqf. Therefore, there is urgency in the matter.
4. On the other hand, the learned counsel appearing for the respondents counter part submitted that the respondents have received the application of the petitioner and the same is required to be examined in detail and respondent No.1 at any rate would dispose of the said application within a period of 12 weeks from today.
5. Considering the urgency pleaded by the learned counsel for the petitioner, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to dispose of the said application at an early date.
6. In the light of the above, this Writ Petition is disposed of directing the respondents to dispose of the application dated 17.01.2025 as expeditiously as possible, at any rate within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
