Respondents PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to settle interest at 6% per annum for the belated payment of commuted value of pension from the date of the petitioner's retirement to till the date on which the said benefit was settled to him.

ORDER

The petitioner is a retired employee of the first respondent/Transport Corporation and has been paid the retiral benefits, but they were settled belatedly. Therefore, for the period of delay in settling the benefits, the petitioner is entitled to interest at the rate of 6% per annum. The second respondent is therefore directed to settle the interest amount payable to the petitioner at 6% per annum for the belated payment. This amount shall be paid within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
