This petition has been filed to direct the second respondent to give permission and provide police protection for the 'Pongal Festival' (Games and Competition) to be conducted on 14.01.2018 and 15.01.2018 from morning 07.00 a.m., to 08.00 pm., (two days), at S.No.903, New S.No.1248/23, near Bus stand, (vacant land), Adaimithippankulam, Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli District. 2.Heard, Mr.N.Madhava Govindan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.B.Bhagawathi, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that every year the village people are celebrating the 'pongal festival' by conducting the programs such as 'Games and Competition', likewise, on 14.01.2018 and 15.01.2018, also they decided to celebrate the festival at the above said place and for that, they have already given a representation to the respondents and no order has been passed till now.

4.The learned Government Advocate has not raised any serious objection.

5.Considering the above said submission, the second respondent/ Inspector of Police, is directed to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 04.01.2018 and dispose of the same on or before 12.01.2018.

6.With the aforesaid direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
