period that may be stipulated by this Court.

O R D E R
The present writ petition has been filed seeking to quash the communication of the first respondent wherein the petitioner has been called upon his explanation with regard to the adverse police report for issuance of passport.
2. The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the second respondent brought to the notice of this Court that the petitioner has been implicated in a criminal case in Crime No.304 of 2023 on the file of the second respondent police. So far investigation has not been completed and charge sheet has not been laid. The High Court in it decision in 2014(8) MLJ 81 has categorically held that pendency of a criminal case is not a legal impediment for issuance of passport.

3. In view of the above said facts, the first respondent is directed to consider the request of the petitioner for issuance of passport and pass orders within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
4. With the above said observations, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
