ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed by the petitioner for a direction directing the respondents to issue Indian Citizenship based on the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 16.12.2022.

2.According to the petitioner, he was born to Srilankan parents in India and as such, he is claiming Citizenship of India and submitted a representation before the respondents. 3.On perusal of the counter-affidavit filed by the first respondent would reveal that there is a procedure to apply for Citizenship and on receipt of the said application, that too, through online module there are procedures to be followed for issuance of Indian Citizenship.

4.In view of the above, the petitioner is directed to submit an application through online along with necessary documents as required under the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955 and the Indian Citizenship Rules, 2009, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On receipt of the same, the respondents are directed to consider and dispose of the same on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of twelve weeks thereafter.

5.With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
