PRAYER :- Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to grant permission protection to the petitioner and the villagers of Navanikalam Village, Thiruppathur Taluk, Sivagangai District to conduct Puthupatchi Amman Temple festival in the customary manner, including procession, worship and related religious practices from 23.02.2026 to 03.03.2026 by considering the petitioner's representation dated 02.02.2026. ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to grant permission protection to the petitioner and the villagers of Navanikalam Village, Thiruppathur Taluk, Sivagangai District to conduct Puthupatchi Amman Temple festival in the customary manner, including procession, worship and related religious practices from 23.02.2026 to 03.03.2026 by considering the petitioner's representation dated 02.02.2026. 2/5

2. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

3. According to the petitioner, he was conducting the festival in the village. But, according to the fourth respondent, the petitioner committed misappropriation, therefore, he left the village, after the said allegation,. Both the statements were recorded. The present issue ought to be resolved by conducting peace committee meeting. Therefore, the Tahsildhar, Tirupattur Taluk, Sivagangai District is suo-motu impleaded as fifth respondent.

4. The petitioner is directed to submit a representation to the Tahsildhar, Tirupattur Taluk. Thereafter, the Tahsildar shall issue notice to the petitioner as well as the fourth respondent as well as the other villages and conduct a peace committee meeting and thereafter pass appropriate orders. The parties are directed to adhere to the orders that would be passed in the Peace Committee Meeting. Since the festival is scheduled on 23.02.2026, the orders may be passed on or before 22.02.2026.
