This petition has been filed to direct the respondent to grant permission and protection to the petitioner to conduct "Pongal Festival Celebration" on 14.01.2018 at "Puthumanai Ammal Thoppu, Vazhavallan Village & Panchayat, Tuticorin District on the basis of the petition dated 21.12.2017 given by the petitioner.

2.Heard, Mr.S.Mahalingam, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.V.Shanmuga selvam, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that every year during Pongal Festival the petitioner conduct "Pongal Festival Celebration". Likewise, in this year also, the petitioner has a proposal to conduct programme on 14.01.2018 and for that, he gave a representation on 21.12.2017 to the respondent, but, so far, the said representation has not been considered by the respondent. 4.The learned Additional Government Pleader has submitted that the respondent will consider the petitioner's representation and pass appropriate orders.

5.Considering the aforesaid submission, the respondent is directed to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 21.12.2017 and dispose of the same on or before 13.01.2018. 6.With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
