Prayer:Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to settle the fee bills of the petitioner herein as per the representation of the petitioner dated 14.10.2017 within the time stipulated by this Court.

ORDER

The Writ Petitioner was appointed as Standing Counsel for Government of Tamil Nadu in the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India from 09.06.2011 till 15.07.2017 and he has appeared for 6,700 hearings involving nearly 1600 cases, before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India and defended the interest of the Government of Tamil Nadu. He has sent the bills to the respective departments for payment of fees. But all the bills from the year 2011 to 2017 are pending in the respective department, and no order has been passed for payment of fees. In such circumstances, he made a representation to the respondents and also to the first respondent / Chief Secretary to the Government of Tamil Nadu, so far no order has been passed. Hence, the present writ petition has been filed.

2.The learned counsel for the writ petitioner submitted that the bills were pending in various departments for many years. He has also relied on the Judgment of this Court made in W.P.(MD) No.11881 of 2017 dated 20.09.2017, wherein this Court directed the State Government to pay fees to the law officers. 3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that it is suffice, if a direction is issued to the respondents to

consider the representation of the petitioner dated 14.10.2017 and pass suitable orders.

4. The learned counsel for the respondents submitted that based on the representation made by the petitioner, already the Public Secretary sent a letter to all the heads of the various departments to settle the bills.

5.Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, the first respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's representation for payment of legal fees and pass suitable orders within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
