ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed for issuing a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to provide adequate police protection to the petitioner to celebrate the Shri Vadakkuthiyan Thirukovil (Kodai Vizha) at Thirumalapuram Village, Panavadalichatram, Tenkasi District, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 02.02.2026.
2. The learned counsel for the prosecution submitted that, upon perusal of the notice, the petitioner, under the guise of celebrating Kodai Vizha, proposes to conduct a light music programme by engaging "Star Right Music Group."
3. Therefore, this Court directs that the petitioner shall conduct the festival strictly in accordance with the regular customary practices. 2/5
Insofar as the light music programme is concerned, the petitioner is permitted to conduct the same, but the timing shall be restricted from 7.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. only.
4. According to the petitioner, there is no rival group. However, according to the prosecution, there exists a rival group. Hence, the Tahsildar concerned is directed to enquire into the issue. If it is found that there is a rival group, a peace committee meeting shall be convened and appropriate orders shall be passed. The parties shall strictly adhere to the said orders. The respondent Police shall provide adequate police protection for conducting the festival, subject to the conditions and to ensure maintenance of law and order.
