This writ petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a writ of mandamus, directing the respondent to issue patta in favour of the petitioner in respect of Survey Nos. 304/1 and 315/3, situated at Nilaiyur 2nd Bit, Thirupparankundram Taluk, Madurai District, measuring an extent of 6 acres and 59 cents of punja land, by considering the application submitted to the respondent dated 15.02.2024.
2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondent.
3. The petitioner submitted an application dated 15.02.2024 seeking issuance of patta in his name in respect of the aforesaid properties. However, no action has been taken on the said application. Hence, the present writ petition has been filed.
4. Learned Special Government Pleader, appearing on behalf of the respondent, submits that the petitioner's application would be considered on merits and in accordance with law.

In view of the above submissions, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 15.02.2024 on merits and in accordance with law and to pass appropriate orders within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. Such application shall be considered and disposed of after conducting an inquiry. The respondent is further directed to afford a reasonable opportunity to the petitioner and to all other persons who may be affected by such decision during the course of the inquiry. There shall be no order as to costs.
