Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the second respondent to grant permission for one day fasting in Sivagangai District before Sivagangai Palace on 04.04.2020 which would be held in accordance with law and order based upon the representation dated 17.02.2020.

O R D E R

The petitioner wants to conduct one day fast before Sivagangai Palace demanding installation of the statue of the legendary Maruthupandiyar brothers. A requisition in this regard was made as early as on 17.02.2020. The petitioner has made it clear that not more than 200 persons are likely to participate in the said fast. The petitioner also gives an undertaking that they would obey by any condition that may be imposed by the second respondent. Therefore, the second respondent is directed to grant permission as sought for.
