Respondent Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to grant permission and adequate police protection to conduct "Karagattam" programme on 25.03.2018 during the nighttime from 11.00 pm., to 04.00 am., in our village on the eve of "Sri Samayapuram Muthumariamman Temple" based on the petitioner's representation dated 16.03.2018 within the time limit that may stipulated by this Court.

O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed to direct the respondents to grant permission to perform the programme of "Karagattam" on 25.03.2018 night at about 11.00 pm to 04.00 am in connection with temple festival of "Sri Samayapuram Muthumariamman Temple" and to provide adequate police protection based on the petitioner's representation dated 16.03.2018.

2.Heard, Mr.M.Subash Babu, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.N.Shanmuga Selvam, learned Additional Government Pleader, appearing for the respondent.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has submitted that the villagers are celebrating the festival of "Sri Samayapuram Muthumariamman Temple" every year and this year also, they have decided to conduct "Karagattam" on 25.03.2018 night at https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

about 11.00 pm to 04.00 am with regard to celebrate the aforesaid temple festival, for that, they have already given a representation dated 16.03.2018 to the respondent, but, sofar, no order has been passed. Hence, he has filed the present writ petition. 4.The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent has submitted that there is a law and order problem and hence, the petitioner's representation is kept pending. 5.Considering the aforesaid submissions, the respondent is directed to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner, dated 16.03.2018 and dispose of the same at early. At the time of passing order, the respondent has to keep in mind the decision of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in the case of Church of God (Full Gospel) in India Vs. K.K.R, Majestic Colony Welfare Association and Ors, reported in 2001 - 1 - L.W. (Crl.) 233. 6.With the aforesaid observations, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
