O R D E R

This Criminal Original petition is filed seeking a direction to the learned Principal Sessions Judge, Virudhunagar Distrct, at Srivilliputhur, to complete the case in S.C.No.2 of 2017 within the time stipulated by this Court.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate(Criminal side) appearing for the respondent.

3. It is stated that the petitioner is one of the accused in the criminal case in Crime No.649 of 2016 which was registered for the offence under Sections 302, 201 and 120(b) of I.P.C. It is submitted that originally a case was registered against unknown persons and the accused were arrested and confession statements were recorded.

4. It is stated by the learned counsel for the petitioner that the accused are always willing to co-operate for the disposal of the case. It is further represented that the petitioner who is a third accused, is a Government servant and she was working as Rural https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

Welfare Officer(Women), Rajapalayam Panchayat Union, Virudhunagar District. Since she was placed under suspension in view of the involvement in the criminal case, the learned counsel for the petitioner stated that this is a fit case where speedy trial will render justice to the petitioner.

5. It is seen that this criminal case itself was taken on file only in the year 2017. Having regard to the nature of the case, this Court cannot predict the duration for a fair and final adjudication of the case in S.C.No.2 of 2017. However, this Court is of the view that the period of one year as time limit can be fixed for disposal of the above case.

6. Having regard to the facts and circumstances and materials placed before this Court, this Court is inclined to allow the Criminal Original petition and the learned Principal Sessions Judge, Virudhunagar District, at Srivilliputhur, is directed to complete the trial in S.C.No.2 of 2017 and dispose of the same on merits and accordance with law within a period of one year from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
