ORDER
The petitioner seeks for a Mandamus to direct the third respondent to make arrangement for giving relief amount of Rs.26,000/-, which would be sanctioned by the Government for the parentless child, in favour of the petitioner, on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 14.10.2024.
2. The petitioner is a senior citizen aged about 70 years. He is a resident of Thirupuvanam, Sivagangai District. He married one Devi and from the wedlock, a daughter was born to them. The daughter was married to and she brought forth a male child into this world.
3. Due to disputes and differences, the petitioner's daughter divorced her husband and returned to her parental home. She unfortunately passed away during COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the grandson of the petitioner is parentless. The child is staying at the house of the writ petitioner's friend and undergoing his education in St.Mary's School (Government Aided) at Dindigul.
4. On account of distressed circumstances, the petitioner sought for maintenance for the child. He made a representation to the respondents on 14.10.2024. As the same was not considered, he has come forward with the present Writ Petition.
5. When the matter came up for admission, I requested Mr.M.Muthumanikkam, learned Government Advocate to take notice on behalf of the respondents and get instructions.
6. Mr.Muthumanikkam had stated that the issue raised by the petitioner will be addressed very shortly. In order to give an opportunity to get written instructions, I posted the matter today.
7. When the matter was taken up for hearing today, Mr.Muthumanikkam has produced a letter addressed to the writ petitioner by the third respondent on 06.03.2025. In the said letter, it has been stated that the relief amount of Rs.26,000/- has been deposited in the bank account of the child and that the child will be given financial assistance in terms of Mission Vatsalya Scheme from the ensuing academic year. For the sake of ready reference, the same is extracted hereunder:
8. As the respondents have addressed the issue raised by the writ petitioner, apart from recording the same, no further orders are necessary in the Writ Petition. Accordingly, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
