This writ petition has been filed to direct the respondents to grant permission and adequate police protection for smooth
performance of Arulmighu Sri Kaliamman Kovil Panguni Urchava Peruvizha from 27.03.2018 to 29.03.2018 at Ambedkar Nagar, Varusanadu, Aundipatti Taluk, Theni District pursuant to the representations dated 07.03.2018.
2.Heard, Mr.S.Alagarsamy, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.N.Shanmuga Selvam, learned Additional Government Pleader, appearing for the respondents.
3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has submitted that the petitioner is the president of the aforesaid Village. The villagers are conducting the aforesaid temple festival every year and this year also they have decided to conduct the "Panguni Festival" in connection with aforesaid temple from 27.03.2018 to 29.03.2018 and for that, they have already given representations dated 07.03.2018 to the second and seventh respondents. In response, the second respondent has conducted a Peace Committee Meeting on 22.03.2018 and He further submitted that the petitioner would strictly obey the terms and the procedures regarding the festival formalities and the conditions imposed by the Peace Committee Meeting vide proceedings in e.f.vz; :640o/2017/m4 dated 22.03.2018.
4.Heard the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents has submitted that there is a law and order problem and hence, the petitioner's representation is kept pending.
5.As per the Peace Committee Meetings dated 09.01.2018 and 11.01.2018 conducted in the presence of the Revenue Divisional Officer and Police Department for the performance of the festival, the seventh respondent is directed to give police protection to conduct the meeting peacefully from 27.03.2018 to 29.03.2018. 6.With the aforesaid observations, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
