ORDER
This criminal original petition has been filed for a direction to the learned Special Court under TNPID Act, 1997, Madurai to expedite and complete the Trial in C.C.No. 1/2024 in Crime No. 3/2016 dt. 08.11.2016 on the file of the 2nd respondent within the stipulated time as fixed by this Court.
2. According to the petitioner, he is one of the victims and the case is pending from the year 2016 without any progress. Therefore, the petitioner filed this petition for speedy disposal of the case.
3. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent police, would submit that the case is pending at the stage of attachment of properties. There are 71 witnesses in this case and nine accused have involved in this case. He would also submit that the respondents have to examine all the witnesses and hence, it will take some more time and now, the case is posted for appearance of the accused and also, non bailable warrant has been pending for some of the 2/4
accused. However, the respondents will cooperate for speedy trial by producing the witnesses without any delay.
4. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials placed before this Court.
5. Since the case is pending from the year 2016 and now, the case is posted for appearance of the accused and non bailable warrant is pending for some of the accused, it is not appropriate to direct the trial Court to dispose of the case without any delay. Therefore, this Court directs the trial Court, namely, Special Court under TNPID Act, 1997, Madurai, to expedite the trial and dispose of the same on merits and in accordance with law, as early as possible without giving long adjournments beyond fifteen days.
6. With the above direction, this criminal original petition is disposed of. 20.02.2025 Index :
