(or) Science (or) Commerce) and it will be in English and in some sections will be in Tamil as illegal and for consequential direction, directing the respondents to conduct written examination, based on the previous method of written examination ie., it will be in English as well as Tamil for the post of Assessor.

This writ petition has been filed challenging the impugned Notification No.01/20 dated 08.01.2020, issued by the 2nd respondent in Serial No.6(A) and quash the same as illegal to the extent to which define that the question paper for online examination will be of objective type in the degree standard (Arts (or) Science (or) Commerce) and it will be in English and in some sections will be in Tamil as illegal and for consequential direction, directing the respondents to conduct written examination, based on the previous method of written examination ie., it will be in English as well as Tamil for the post of Assessor. 2/6

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the earlier pattern of Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited is 100 marks and part-I contained in Tamil/English for 20 marks/items and aptitude and part - II contained in mental ability for 20 marks /items and part III contained in general studies for 60 marks /items and the question paper for written examination will be of objective type in OMR format of degree standard and it will be in English as well as Tamil. However, in the impugned notification dated 08.01.2020, the second respondent mentioned that for the post of Assessor in Serial No. 6(A), the question paper for online examination will be of objective type in degree standard and it will be in English and in some sections will be in Tamil. Challenging the same, the present writ petition has been filed.

The learned Standing counsel appearing for the respondents has filed a counter stating that they modified the notification as the question paper for online examination will be of objective type in the degree standard (Arts (or) Science (or) Commerce) and it will be in English and as well as in Tamil and the submission of applications through online has 3/6

also been extended up to 23.03.2020 for the candidates. Paragraph No.6 of the counter reads as follows:

"6.I respectfully submit with regard to the averment stated at paragraph -9 is the corrigendum to the notification was issued on 07.03.2020 stating that "The question paper for ONLINE EXAMINATION will be of Objective type in the Degree Standard (Arts (or) Science (or) Commerce) and it will be in English and in some sections will be in Tamil." may be corrected and read as "The question paper for ONLINE EXAMINATION will be of objective type in the Degree Standard (Arts (or) Science (or) Commerce) and it will be in English and as well as in Tamil." Accordingly, the submission of applications through online has also been extended up to 23.03.2020 for the candidates."

4. In view of the above modification in the impugned notification dated 08.01.2020, this Writ Petition is closed. No costs. Consequently, the connected Miscellaneous Petitions are closed. 07.12.2022 akv 4/6
