O R D E R

This Criminal Original petition is filed seeking a direction to the respondent police to complete the investigation in Crime No.16 of 2016 on the file of the respondent police and to file charge sheet in accordance with law within the time stipulated by this Court.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate(Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent.

3. The petitioner is the wife and on the basis of the complaint given by the petitioner, a case was registered by the respondent police in Crime No.16 of 2016 for the offences under Sections 294 (b), 406, 420, 498(A), 506(ii) I.P.C., and Section 4 of Tamil Nadu Dowry Prohibition Act.

4. It is the case of the petitioner that after registration of First Information Report, the respondent police did not take any steps to secure the accused persons and to take action in accordance with law. It was in the said circumstances, the petitioner states that she is constrained to file this petition.

5. The learned Government Advocate(Criminal Side) on instructions submitted that the petitioner and the accused were in the process of settlement for some time and it was only in that context further investigation was not done in the matter. It is further submitted by the learned Government Advocate(Criminal Side) that the final report will be filed within a period of three months.

6. Recording the said statement of the learned Government Advocate(Criminal Side), the Criminal Original petition is allowed and the respondent police is directed to complete the investigation in Crime No.16 of 2016 and to file Charge Sheet within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
