O R D E R

The present writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to provide electricity service connection to the petitioner's residential house.

2. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents raised an objection stating that the house property is located very near Sambai Ootru, which is used as a drinking water source for the public in the locality.

3. When the petitioner's property is situated on private land and does not form part of the water body, the respondents cannot have any objection whatsoever to providing service connection. This Court, in similar circumstances, had allowed the writ petition in W.P.(MD).No.21402 of 2024, by order dated 09.09.2024.

4. In view of the aforesaid facts, the respondents are directed to provide electricity service connection to the petitioner's residential house, subject to fulfilment of other formalities, within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above said observations, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
