O R D E R

This Writ Petition is filed seeking a direction to the respondent, Joint-II Sub-Registrar, Karaikudi, to forthwith register the petitioner's sale deed dated 31.01.2026 presented under Token No.TP/247436362/2026.

2. By consent, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

3. According to the petitioner, he purchased 19 plots in the year 2011. All these plots are approved by the DTCP in the year 1987 itself. When the petitioner presented a sale deed for sale of 9 plots, the respondent orally refused to register the same. Hence, the petitioner has filed this Writ Petition.

4. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent would submit that if the sale deed is represented, the respondent will register the same within the time limit prescribed by this Court.

5. This Court heard the submissions made by the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

6. On a perusal of the records, it is seen that the petitioner has purchased 19 plots in the year 2011, which were approved in the year 1987 itself. Even assuming they were not approved, the respondent cannot refuse to register the same since, the plots were purchased in the year 2011 before the cut-off date ie., October 20, 2016. Therefore, the respondent has to register the sale deed presented by the petitioner.

7. In view of the above, this Court directs the petitioner to represent the sale deed dated 31.01.2026 before the respondent. Upon representation, the respondent is directed to register the same forthwith.

8. With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
