PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent to issue a passport to the petitioner on the basis of the petitioner's application dated 02.02.2026 pending in File No.TR2066347572326 before the 1st respondent within a time frame.

ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed seeking a mandamus directing the first respondent to issue the passport to the petitioner based upon his application dated 02.02.2026.

2. The learned Government Advocate(crl. Side) appearing for the second respondent brought to the notice of the Court that the petitioner has been implicated in a criminal case in Cr.No.288 of 2021 on the file of the second respondent which has culminated in filing of a charge sheet before the learned Judicial Magistrate Court, Srirangam, on 03.07.2025. In view of the memo of objections raised by the said Court, so far charge sheet has not been taken on file. The concerned police officials have also not taken any steps to re-present the same.

3. In view of the above said facts, there is no legal impediment for the first respondent to consider the request for the petitioner for issuance of the passport. The first respondent is directed to consider the application of the petitioner and pass orders within a period of 4(four) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above said observations, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
