ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking direction to the respondent to release the petitioner's vehicle Maruthi Suzuki SX4 VDI Model Car bearing Registration No.KL.65-2772 expeditiously.

2.Heard Mr.A.D.Ganeshamoorthi, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.M.Rajarajan, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent.

3.According to the petitioner, the petitioner's car was seized for violation of Tamil Nadu Forest Act 1967 read with Rule 3 of Smuggling of Sandal Wood Rules for transporting 21.250 kg. Therefore, the petitioner has submitted a representation to the respondent seeking release of the vehicle. Since no order has been passed, the present writ petition has been filed. 4.When the matter came up for hearing, learned Government Advocate submitted that adjudication proceedings has been initiated against the petitioner wherein notice was also issued to the petitioner and therefore, the respondent is not in a position to release the vehicle.

5.In such view of the matter, the respondent is directed to complete the adjudication proceedings initiated against the petitioner and pass appropriate orders, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Needless to mention that the petitioner shall co-operate with the adjudication proceedings.

6.With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
