The petitioner is working as Foreman Grade-I in TANGEDCO. He seeks promotion to the post of Junior Engineer Grade-II. The qualification prescribed for the said post in the recruitment rules is that the candidates must possess Diploma in Electrical Engineering. In this case, the petitioner has produced such a certificate. But then, it was acquired through distance education. The employer in this case does not recognize such degree obtained through distance learning mode. Since the qualification acquired by the petitioner is not recognized by the employer, his request was rightly declined. The reason set out in the impugned order is very much sustainable. 2.Accordingly, this writ petition stands dismissed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is also dismissed.
