Respondents PRAYER: The petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to supply water to Puthantharuvai Tank, Sathankulam Taluk and Thoothukudi District through Sadayaneri Sub Canal, Thamiraparani River and 80 ft. canal from Manimutharu Dam and ensure the water reaches Puthantharuvai Tank.

(Order of the Court was made by C.T.SELVAM,J.) By consent, Writ Petition itself, is taken up for final disposal.
2.Mr.R.Sethuraman, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice for respondents.
3.This Writ petitioner seeks issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to supply water to Puthantharuvai Tank, Sathankulam Taluk and Thoothukudi District through Sadayaneri Sub Canal, Thamiraparani River and 80 ft. canal from Manimutharu Dam and ensure the water reaches Puthantharuvai Tank.
4.Lands to be irrigated through such systems are given utmost priority. Learned counsel for petitioner submits that he is aware of such position, but, however, when there is excess flow of water, the authorities may, instead of allowing the same to run waste into the sea, make provision for supply to the above said tank.
5.Leaving it open to the petitioner to make appropriate representation to the authorities concerned, this petition shall stand closed. No costs.
