PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent No.2 herein to rectify the petitioner name as Dhiyan Shankar instead of Jeyapradha in the Birth Certificate dated 13.11.2025 vide Reg.No.115/2001/NAG/00005 issued by the 2nd respondent and re-issue birth certificate on the basis of the representation dated 12.12.2025 and 10.02.2026 within the stipulated time period in accordance with law.

ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed seeking a mandamus as against the second respondent to rectify the petitioner's name as Dhiyan Shankar instead of Jeyapradha in the birth certificate dated 13.11.2025 based upon his representations dated 12.12.2025 and 10.02.2026.

2. According to the learned Counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, the petitioner was born on 18.01.2001 and the same was registered on 20.01.2001. The name of his father is P.Sundaresan and his mother's name is S.Jeyapradha. Instead of mentioning his name, the mother's name is mentioned as the name of the child. The birth Certificate has been issued only on 13.11.2025 and after finding out the mistake, the petitioner has given a request on 12.12.2025 and on 10.02.2026 to rectify the same. Since there was no response, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. Considering the above said facts, the second respondent is directed to consider the applications presented by the writ petitioner and the documents submitted by him and pass orders within a period of 8(eight) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above said observations, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
