This writ petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a writ of mandamus, directing the second respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 02.01.2024 to issue free agricultural land patta in the name of the petitioner pertaining to the Government Poramboke land to an extent of 50 cent situated in S.No.216/1 situated at Mudikarai Village Group, Kalayarkovil Taluk, Sivagangai District.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondent.

3. The petitioner submitted a representation dated 02.01.2024 seeking issuance of free patta in his name in respect of the aforesaid properties. However, no action has been taken on the said application. Hence, the present writ petition has been filed. 2/5

4. The learned Additional Government Pleader, appearing on behalf of the respondents, submitted that the land in question had been encroached upon by the petitioner and that proceedings had also been initiated for eviction of the petitioner pursuant to the directions of this Court.

5. In view of the above submissions, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the third respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 02.01.2024, taking note of the fact that eviction proceedings have been initiated against the petitioner, which shall form part of the proceedings and to pass appropriate orders within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. There shall be no order as to costs.
