ORDER
The petitioner, a resident of Thanjavur Corporation, has lodged a complaint to the Director of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department on 05.05.2024 that in the process of removing the garbage, a fraud has been played in the Corporation to the tune of Rs.10.60 crore. The petitioner, with a grievance that his complaint dated 05.05.2024 was not attended by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department, has filed this writ petition before this Court.
2. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department took a stand that the complaint of the petitioner was received on 07.05.2024. After 2/5
receiving the complaint, they have made a formal request for permission as required under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act from the concerned Department and permission was also granted on 16.07.2024. Thereafter, they have also conduced the preliminary enquiry on 12.08.2024 and found prima facie materials that an offence has been committed by the Officers in the Corporation. It is a case for registering a regular case. Therefore, they have sent necessary proposal to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption along with the detailed report. The Commissioner of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department has to take a call on registering a regular case.
3. Recording the submission of the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, this Writ Petition is closed.
