ORDER
This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondents to grant permission and adequate police protection for conducting peace procession starting from Karaikudi Municipal Corporation to M.G.R.Statue at 10.30 AM and subsequent Public Meeting on 24.02.2025 on the eve of Birthday Memorial of Dr.J.Jayalalitha by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 13.02.2025.
2. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the records placed before this Court.

According to the petitioner, he is the Secretary of Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhaga Thondargal Urimai Meetpu Kuzhu and they want to celebrate the Birthday Memorial function of Dr.J.Jayalalitha, who was the former party leader and therefore, the petitioner sent a representation to the respondents on 13.02.2025 and the same has not been considered. Hence, the petitioner filed this writ petition.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents submits that the route which is sought for by the petitioner for the conduct of peace procession is a very busy area and if the procession is permitted so, it will cause disturbance to the public. However, the respondents will grant permission for the conduct of public meeting on 24.02.2025 and so, the petitioner can choose an alternative place for the said procession.
5. At this juncture, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner undertakes that the petitioner will conduct the peace procession without causing any disturbance to the public, and also complete the same within half an hour. 3/6

Considering the submission made on either side and also considering the fact that the respondents have no objection to conduct the public meeting, but only objected for the procession, and also recording the undertaking given by the petitioner that they will conduct peace procession without causing any disturbance to the public, and also complete the same within half an hour, this Court is inclined to allow this writ petition.
7. Accordingly, this writ petition is allowed with a direction to the respondents to grant permission for the conduct of peace procession starting from Karaikudi Municipal Corporation to M.G.R.Statue at 10.30 AM and also for the conduct of Public Meeting on 24.02.2025, on the eve of Birthday Memorial of Dr.J.Jayalalitha, by fixing particular time, by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 13.02.2025.
