ORDER

This writ petition has been filed to direct the respondents 2 and 3 to permit the petitioner to conduct Chithirai Kodai Vizha of Arulmigu Devi Sri Mutharamman Temple, Sarakkal Vilai, Edulakudy Post, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District with police protection from 12.05.2019 to 16.05.2019.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) appearing for the respondents.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the Villagers have conducted the temple every year peacefully. As per the tradition and customs, this year also the Villagers have planned to conduct Chithirai Kodai Vizha from 12.05.2019 to 16.05.2019. In this regard, the petitioner gave a representation https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

to the respondents on 29.03.2019. Since no action has been taken, the present writ petition has been filed.

4. The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) would submit that already the rival claimants have decided to celebrate the festival from 12.05.2019 to 16.05.2019 and the petitioner is also now willing to celebrate the festival on the same days. On instructions, he would further submit that a peace committee is constituted under the head of the Revenue Divisional Officer, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District, and the meeting will be held on 10.05.2019.

5. In view of the above submission made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side), the petitioner is directed to attend the Peace Committee Meeting and submit his representation before the Revenue Divisional Officer, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District, and the same shall be considered by the Revenue Divisional Officer, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District.

6. With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
