************ By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
2.The prayer sought for in this writ petition is for a Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent to promote the petitioner as Deputy Superintendent of Police by considering the petitioner's representation dated 19.03.2018.
3.Heard Mr.R.Murugappan, learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.D.Muruganantham, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.
4.The learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner's due of promotion to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police is still pending with the respondents and in order to get the promotion, the petitioner, though had given a representation dated 27.12.2015 and recently on 19.03.2018, no orders have been passed by the respondents. Hence, the petitioner approaches this Court with the aforesaid prayer. 5.I have heard the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent in this regard.
6.Since, the petitioner seeks for a very innocuous prayer of direction to the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner with regard to his promotion, this writ petition itself is disposed of finally with the consent of both sides by issuing the following direction:
6.1.The first respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 27.12.2015 and 19.03.2018 and pass orders thereon on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
7.With the above direction, the writ petition stands disposed of. However, in the circumstances of the case, there shall be no order as to costs.
