ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the first respondent to transfer the investigation of the case in Crime No.2 of 2026, pending before the fourth respondent Police to some other competent agency based on the petitioner's complaint dated 02.02.2026. 2.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is the defacto complainant, at whose instance the FIR in Crime No.2 of 2026 has been registered by the third respondent police with respect to the chain snatching from the petitioner. However, there 2/6

is no progress in the investigation and hence, the present petition has been filed.

3.The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) appearing for the respondent Police submitted that, based on the complaint given by the petitioner/defacto complainant, an FIR in Crime No.2 of 2026 has been registered. During the course of investigation, the respondent Police had obtained CCTV footage and recorded the statements of five witnesses. He fairly submitted that the investigation would be concluded within a short span of time.

4. Heard either side and perused the materials available on record. 5.Recording the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side), it is clear that the crime concerned is a recent one, i.e., on 01.01.2026, and that the investigation is in progress. Therefore, this Court directs the third respondent police to conclude the investigation as expeditiously as possible, within a period of two 3/6

months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The second respondent is directed to monitor the investigation, being conducted by the third respondent police and the third respondent police is directed to appraise the progress in the investigation every Friday to the second respondent.
