2. The petitioner is the husband and the respondent is the wife. The marriage between the petitioner and the respondent was solemnized in the year 2015. Subsequently, matrimonial disputes arose between them. The respondent herein filed a petition under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 in D.V.C.No.33 of 2021 before the learned Judicial Magistrate, Additional Mahila Court, Karur, against the petitioner and his parents. The learned Judicial Magistrate, by order dated 28.10.2022, directed the petitioner herein to pay a sum of Rs.3,000/- per month towards rent, to pay a sum of Rs.5,000/- per month towards maintenance to the respondent from the date of petition i.e., 19.05.2017 till the date of disposal i.e., 28.10.2022 and to pay a sum of Rs.2,00,000/- towards compensation.
Aggrieved by the said order, the petitioner herein filed Criminal Appeal No.34 of 2023 before the learned Additional Sessions Judge, Karur. By judgment dated 28.08.2023, the learned Additional Sessions Judge dismissed the appeal. Challenging the same, the present revision petition has been filed.
3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is still willing to live with the respondent, but the respondent is not inclined to join him.
4. Per contra, the learned counsel appearing for the respondent submitted that the maintenance awarded is not sufficient for her sustenance and prayed for enhancement.

5. I have considered the rival submissions and perused the materials on record.
6. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, and the requirement for the respondent to maintain herself, this Court is of the view that the amount fixed by the trial Court towards maintenance is reasonable. Accordingly, the petitioner/husband is directed to pay a sum of Rs.8,000/- (Rupees Eight Thousand only) per month as maintenance to the respondent and continue to pay the same on or before the 7th day of every English calendar month. The petitioner/husband is further directed to pay the entire arrears amount of Rs.1,50,000/- (Rupees One Lakh and Fifty Thousand only) towards compensation to the respondent within a period of ten (10) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
7. In the result, this Criminal Revision Petition is disposed of in the above terms. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 12.08.2025 Internet:Yes/No Index:Yes/No TSG 3/5
