ORDER

The case of the petitioner is that his son is a hockey player and he has participated many hockey tournaments and recently has participated in the 64th National School Games 2018-2019 under age 14 category. According to the petitioner, his son was also selected at regional level and participated in the Tamilnadu State Team selection for Sub Junior. The petitioner's son has also been selected and placed as a first player in the stand by players list of Tamilnadu. Being placed as one of the members in the stand by players list, the petitioner's son name has been included in the Tamilnadu State team for 11th hockey Sub Junior Men Nationals scheduled to be held from 17.03.2021 to 28.03.2021 in Haryana. 2.The grievance of the petitioner is that one E.

Esakimuthu, who was selected as one among the players of the main team, has left the team because of his illness and without including the petitioner's son in the slot, the team management had included the name of one Vijayaraj, whose name has also been included in the stand by players list. On coming to know the non inclusion of the petitioner's son name in the State team, in the facts and circumstances of the case, the petitioner is before this Court for issuance of writ of mandamus, directing the 2nd respondent to include the name of his son in the State team players list for participating the 11th Hockey India Sub Junior Men Nationals Match to be held from 17.03.2021 to 28.03.2021.

3.This Court is not inclined to entertain this writ petition for the simple reason that in a matter like this, this Court in exercising of its jurisdiction under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, cannot appreciate the claim of the petitioner, since the team management alone is the best and competent authority to select the players, who are suitable for the tournament scheduled to be held in Haryana and this Court cannot substitute its views as to the suitability of the petitioner to be included in the State team. The constitutional jurisdiction of this Court cannot be invoked in the selection of the hockey players for the State team. 4.The matter of selection and inclusion of any player in the State team of 11th Hockey India Sub Junior Men Nationals Match cannot be a subject matter of a judicial review of this Court. The affidavit moreover contains bald averments and sketchy facts and no Court could issue any direction on the basis of the self-serving averments of the petitioner in a matter like this. 2/3

5.For the above said reason, the relief as prayed for by the petitioner is not maintainable and accordingly, the writ petition stands dismissed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
