ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the 2nd respondent to grant permission to conduct the temple festival in the eve of Shree Mariyamman temple scheduled to be held on 16.03.2025 to 25.03.2025 at Kurumpapatti, Sendurai Post, Natham Taluk, Dindigul District on the basis of petitioner's representation dated 07.02.2025.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is the temple committee member and there are 100 families residing in the said Village and they used to conduct festivals every year. This year also, they decided to conduct festival from 16.03.2025 to 25.03.2025 for Shree Mariyamman temple situated at Kurumpapatti, Sendurai Post, Natham Taluk, Dindigul District. Therefore, they sought for permission and police protection 2/6

for the said festival from the second respondent. To that effect, they gave a representation dated 17.02.2025. But the same has not been considered. Hence, the petitioner filed this petition.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents, would submit that if the petitioner undertakes to conduct the temple festival in a peaceful manner without any law and order issue, the respondents will grant permission and police protection and the representation of the petitioner is under consideration and it will be disposed of within one week.

4. At this juncture, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner undertakes to conduct the temple festival in a peaceful manner without any law and order issue.

5. This Court heard both sides and perused the records placed before this Court.

Considering the limited scope of the relief sought for in this petition and recording the submission made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents and also the undertaking given by the petitioner, this Court directs the second respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 17.02.2025 and dispose of the same on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of one week.

7. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs. 24.02.2025 Index :
