PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to mutate patta in favour of the petitioner's land and building in S.No.18/2 an extent of 3488 sq.ft situated at Vedhavijayapuram Village, Orathanadu Taluk, Thanjavur District, based on the petitioner's representation dated 05.10.2024. ORDER

The petitioner seeks issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to effect patta in the name of the petitioner. 2.The petitioner claiming to be the owner of the subject lands has made an application for issuance of patta on 05.10.2024. It is also fairly conceded by the petitioner that there was a dispute with regard to his title and the civil suit in O.S.No.111/1999 ended in favour of the petitioner and the appeal preferred by the rival claimants in A.S.No.32 of 2010 also came to be dismissed on 29.09.2010 and thereby, the matter has attained finality. Thereafter, the petitioner has made an 2/4

application for issuance of patta, based on his title documents and the judgment and decree in his favour, by making an application on 05.10.2024. The grievance of the petitioner is that the respondents have not acted upon the said application of the petitioner.

3.Considering the limited scope of the relief sought for in the writ petition, with the consent of the learned counsel on either side, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself. 4.In the light of the above, this Writ Petition is allowed with a direction to the fourth respondent/Tahsildar to consider and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law disposing of the petitioner's application, dated 05.10.2024, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
