ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by M.M.SUNDRESH, J.) The petitioner has submitted a representation on 06.03.2021 seeking permission to conduct Valli Thirumanam Nadagam on 18.03.2021. The said permission has not been given, in view of the lock-down in existence and the ensuing elections. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

2. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents reiterated the aforesaid position.

3. It appears that the aforesaid programme is being conducted every year. The lock-down restriction is only for a specific time. The ensuing election cannot impose unlimited restrictions, as public meetings are allowed. In fact, the public meetings would involve more crowd, than the one which would involve in the conduct of the programme by the petitioner. That apart, though the election process is set in motion, it is yet to take off. The programme is also only for a single day.

4. In such view of the matter, we direct the respondents to see to it that the aforesaid programme is conducted, without violating the lock-down restrictions, on the scheduled date, subject to other conditions that may be imposed to the petitioner for the purpose of conducting the programme peacefully.

5. Accordingly, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
