ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondents to take appropriate action to delete the petitioner's name in the Tamil Nadu Police Verification Report by considering the petitioner's representation dated 20.05.2024.

2. According to the petitioner, the second respondent registered a case in Crime No.1589 of 2020 for the offences punishable under Sections 143, 341 of IPC r/w. Section 3 of Epidemic Disease Act, as against the petitioner and 18 others, for the protest made by the petitioner by supporting farmers during covid-19 period. The petitioner was added as the sixth accused. The petitioner along with five other accused filed a petition before this Court to quash the said FIR in Crl.O.P.(MD)No.4645 of 2023 and the same was allowed and the FIR 2/6

was also quashed on 13.03.2023. Even thereafter, the petitioner's name has not been deleted in the Tamil Nadu Police Verification Report. Only when the petitioner applied for driving licence before the Regional Transport Office, Pazhani, he came to know that the petitioner's name is still registered in the Tamil Nadu Police Verification Report. Therefore, he sent a representation dated 20.05.2024 before the first respondent. Since the same has not been considered, this writ petition came to be filed.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents, would submit that the respondents received the representation of the petitioner dated 20.05.2024. But sofar no orders have been passed. However, the respondents will dispose of the petitioner's representation within a period of fifteen days.

4. This Court heard both sides and perused the records placed before this Court.

Considering the limited scope of the relief sought for in this petition and also considering the fact that the respondents have admitted the pendency of the petitioner's representation and also that the FIR registered against the petitioner and others has been quashed by this Court in Crl.O.P.(MD)No.4645 of 2023 on 13.03.2023, this Court directs the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 20.05.2024 and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of fifteen days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs. 24.02.2025 Index :
