ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondents to grant permission to conduct festival on 26.02.2025 in the eve of Kutti Kudi Festival in Sri Maasi Periyanna Swamy Temple, pursuant to the petitioner's representation dated 17.02.2025 and to give necessary Police Protection to the said Festival.

According to the petitioner, he is the one of the vizha committee members and the villagers decided to conduct the festival in Sri Maasi Periyanna Swamy Temple during tamil month of Maasi and many devotees in and around the said village will take part in the temple festival. Therefore, the petitioner approached the respondents seeking for police protection vide representations dated 10.02.2025 and 12.02.2025. The petitioner also sent a representation dated 17.02.2025 through post. However, the same has not been considered. Hence, the petitioner filed this petition.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents, would submit that the respondents have received the representation of the petitioner and it is under consideration. He would further submit that the respondents will consider the representation and dispose of the same on merits and in accordance with law, by tomorrow itself, ie., on 25.02.2025.

4. This Court heard both sides and perused the records placed before this Court.

5. Considering the limited scope of the relief sought for in this petition and also recording the submission made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents, this Court directs the second respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 17.02.2025 and dispose of the same on merits and in accordance with law, by tomorrow itself, ie., on 25.02.2025.

6. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs. 24.02.2025 Index :
