[R4 is suo motu impleaded vide order of this Court dated 18.02.2026] PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to settle and disburse the compensation amount to the petitioner for the acquired land comprised in Old Survey No.102/1, New Survey No.92/0, measuring an extent of 728 square metres, situated at Madakulam Village, Madurai South, Madurai District, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 06.12.2025. ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to settle and disburse the compensation amount to the petitioner for the acquired land comprised in Old Survey No.102/1, New Survey No.92/0, measuring an extent of 728 square metres, situated at Madakulam Village, Madurai South, Madurai District, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 06.12.2025.
2. By consent, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is the lawful owner of the subject property and that an extent of 728 sq. metres of land was acquired from him for the Palanganatham Flyover. However, the compensation has not been disbursed to him. Hence, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 06.12.2025 requesting payment of the compensation; however, no action has been taken by the respondents. Hence, the present Writ Petition.

The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents would submit that, in the present case, the Special District Revenue Officer, Land Acquisition - Highways, Madurai - 625 020, is the competent authority to consider the grievance raised by the petitioner. The learned Additional Government Pleader would further submit that an award has already been passed; however, a dispute has been raised. The said dispute will be looked into and, once it is resolved, the compensation amount will be disbursed, failing which, the issue will be referred to the Civil Court.
5. In view of the above, this Court suo motu impleads the Special District Revenue Officer, Land Acquisition - Highways, Collectorate Building, Madurai - 625 020, Madurai District, as the fourth respondent in the present Writ Petition.
6. Considering the above submissions, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the fourth respondent to look into the dispute and, upon its resolution, disburse the compensation amount, failing which, refer the issue to the Civil Court.
