O R D E R
This Criminal Original petition is filed for issuing a direction to the respondent police to investigate and to file final report in Crime No.182 of 2017, dated 20.04.2017 within the time stipulated by this Court.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for respondents.
3. The case of the petitioner is that he gave a complaint as against certain named individuals for conducting "Katta Panchayat" in the village and a case was registered in Crime No.182 of 2017 for the offences under Section 7(1)(b) of Protection of Civil https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
Rights Act, 1955. Though the case was registered as per the direction of the learned Principal District Judge, Trichy, the petitioner states that there was no further investigation and that the matter is kept pending unnecessarily.
4. The complaint refers to the names of certain individuals living in the village, as the persons who are responsible for conducting "Katta Panchayat". Having regard to the nature of allegations, the second respondent has to complete the investigation/enquiry and to file final report within a specified time.
5. Though the learned Additional Public Prosecutor seeks further time to get instructions, this Court having regard to the nature of allegations, is inclined to pass the following direction:- "The second respondent is directed to complete the investigation in Crime No.182 of 2017 and to file final report within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order."
