PRAYER: Writ Petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the petitioner for promotion to the post of Assistant Secretary in the fourth respondent Society by considering her representation, dated 19.08.2019 within a reasonable time as may be prescribed by this Court. This Writ Petition has been filed for a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's promotion to the post of Assistant Secretary in the fourth respondent Society by considering her representation, dated 19.08.2019 within a stipulated time.

2. By consent, the Writ Petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is working as Senior Clerk in the fourth respondent Society. She possessed S.S.L.C, Higher Secondary Course (+2) and Diploma in Co-operation Examination (D.Cop)., and she had put into more than 19 years of unblemished service. The learned counsel would further submit that the petitioner was initially appointed as Senior Clerk on 24.01.2001 and the appointment was made through regular selection process conducted by the fourth respondent Society after calling for the name of eligible candidates from the Employment Exchange after assessing the merit and ability of the eligible candidates appeared for interview. Her probation was declared on 24.01.2002.

In this circumstance, the petitioner requested the respondents 2 to 4 to promote her as Assistant Secretary by considering her eligibility and long experience. However, no steps have been taken by the respondents. Hence, the petitioner made a written representation, dated 19.08.2019 to the respondents requesting them to consider her promotion to the post of Assistant Secretary. But, so far, no action has been taken by the respondents. Hence, the petitioner is before this Court. 4.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

5.Considering the limited prayer sought for in the Writ petition and without adverting to the merits of the case, the respondents are directed to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 19.08.2019 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is needless to state that the petitioner shall enclose the copy of the representation, dated 19.08.2019 along with the copy of the order.
