This writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to respondent Nos.1 and 2 to ensure the peaceful and uninterrupted conduct of the Maha Sivarathiri festival scheduled to be held from 15.02.2026 to 17.02.2026 at Sri Angala Eswari alias Matha Temple and its sub-temple, Sri Bommammal Temple, situated at Rajapalayam Town, Virudhunagar District, and to ensure that no obstruction, interference, or law and order problem is caused by respondents 4 and 5 or any other persons.

2. Mr.K.Balasubramani, learned Special Government Pleader, takes notice for respondent Nos.1 and 2 and Mr.A.Albert James, learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), takes notice for the third respondent. 2/5

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that there is an apprehension that respondents 4 and 5 may cause obstruction in conducting the Maha Sivarathiri festival. It is further submitted that an enquiry was conducted before the Revenue Divisional Officer with regard to patta issues, and respondents 4 and 5, claiming to be trustees of the said temples, may not permit the conduct of the festival scheduled from 15.02.2026 to 17.02.2026. In this regard, the petitioner has made a representation to the respondents seeking police protection.

4. The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the third respondent submitted that appropriate arrangements would be made for providing adequate police protection to prevent any untoward incident during the conduct of the festival.

5. Recording the submission made by the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), this Court directs the third respondent to provide sufficient police protection for the peaceful conduct of the Maha Sivarathiri festival from 15.02.2026 to 17.02.2026.
