PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to rectify the error in UDR land records in respect of Old Survey No.98/1B1 corresponding to present Survey No.98/1, measuring 4 Acres 82 Cents, situated at Melakkuyilkudi Village, Madurai West Taluk, Madurai District, by restoring the entry as per Old Patta No. 107 and consequently, issue patta in the name of the petitioner and his family by considering petitioner's representation dated on 11.02.2026, within the time frame fixed by this Court.

ORDER
This Writ Petition is filed seeking a Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent to rectify the error in UDR land records in respect of Old Survey No. 98/1B1 corresponding to present Survey No.98/1, measuring 4 Acres 82 Cents, situated at Melakkuyilkudi Village, Madurai West Taluk, Madurai District, by restoring the entry as per Old Patta No.107 and consequently, issue patta in the name of the petitioner and his family members, by considering the petitioner's representation dated on 11.02.2026, within the time frame to be fixed by this Court.
2. By consent, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner and his family members are the lawful owners of the property described as Old S.No.98/1B1, New S.No.98/1, measuring an extent of 4 Acres and 82 Cents, situated at Melakkuyilkudi Village, Madurai West Taluk, Madurai District, and are entitled to have the property records correctly reflected in the UDR. Due to clerical and administrative errors, the property details in the UDR do not accurately reflect the petitioner's ownership, causing inconvenience and affecting the petitioner's lawful rights. Therefore, the petitioner submitted a detailed representation dated 11.02.2026 requesting the first respondent to rectify the mistakes and issue Patta in his favour and in favour of his family members. Despite the submission of the representation, the first respondent has failed to take any action or pass orders, thereby denying the petitioner the benefits and legal recognition entitled to him. Hence, the present Writ Petition.
4. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would submit that the petitioner's representation will be considered and appropriate
orders will be passed on merits and in accordance with law within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

Recording the above submission, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the first respondent to consider the petitioner's representation 11.02.2026, on merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders after providing reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, and any other persons, who may be affected by such decision, within a period of sixteen weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
